This First Day of Issue. This Whitney Young Stamp honoring Whitney Moore Young, Jr., the fourth issue in the Black Heritage USA series, was released in New York on January 30, 1981, to launch the nationwide observance of Black History Month beginning on February 1st. The stamp is affixed to an envelope with a print of a hand drawn image of Mr. Young and two young boys at an Urban League Headstart project site in Los Angeles, in June of 1968. Mr. Young’s story is shown on both sides of holed binder sheet. The envelope and stamp are in perfect condition and behind cellophane. The information sheet is no longer available.
