Once in a Blue Moon Online Thrift Store Blog Amazon Store

October 27, 2009

Did you notice the blurb on the home page about the merchandise just added? What you wouldn't know is what exactly was added, so I'll give you a brief summary:

In the Children's Clothing category, 27 items were added with another 10 or so still scheduled, including a few that are new with tags. The Women's Clothing section also grew over the weekend with such items as the Chanel dress pants shown here. These pants are like new and according to our research can sell used for well into the hundreds. Of course not with us. We have two pairs, one size 40 and one in size 42, both are equally in like new condition and sell for $95.00 each. That may sound like a lot of money, but it isn't when you consider they're 100% wool in a timeless chic wide leg style.

We also added items to our Purses, Bags and Accessories that we think really would please any woman! For example, how about a selection of like-new Streets Ahead belts? Since the beginning, Street Ahead designers and artisans have used only the finest Italian leather and hardware. Over the past 25 years, Streets Ahead has built a reputation as the premier leather accessories design and production studio in the U.S. Streets Ahead is soulful, handmade, American luxury. It shouldn't surprise you to see one of the Streets Ahead belts on TV or in the movies, worn by stars such as Sarah Jessica Parker who wore the studded design in Sex in the City. As one might suspect, the Streets Ahead belts have prices well into the hundreds, but even though the belts we have are like new, we've kept our prices way, way down.  The one shown here is only $20.

Do you hear wedding bells?

Right in the middle of writing this newsletter I received a listing for a new wedding gown and you're getting a sneak preview of it here as the ink isn't even dry yet or in other words, it hasn't been added to the site yet.

Our disappointed bride, who loves this dress, states that because the dress will no longer fit, she had to buy another gown for her upcoming wedding.

This is what I know: Demetrios Illusions Model No. 3049 - Size 12 (bust 35, waist 30, hips 42) in Ivory. Crushed French taffeta strapless gown with ruching and mermaid-style cut. The bodice is hand-embellished with Swarovski crystals and beading. The straight skirt is decorated with fabric flowers and ends in a sweep train. Never worn - tags still on. International size.

Something to think about:

A day without sunshine is like, well, night.

Create a Fall or Thanksgiving Centerpiece Using Flowers, Gourds and Leaves

By Donna Pilato

Create an inexpensive, simple centerpiece for your Thanksgiving table with supplies that are easy to find around your home in the fall. You will need:
•A narrow, rectangular tray.
•An assortment of small, colorful gourds. Select gourds of similar size.
•Several contrasting flowers from a mum plant.
•Autumn leaves gathered from your lawn.

Create a bed of leaves on your tray. Be sure to line the bottom of the tray completely to cover over any design on the tray.

Evenly space gourds on top of the leaves on your tray.

Place flowers between gourds to finalize centerpiece.

You're ready to go with a centerpiece that has been created from items that can often be found around your home in the fall.
