Once in a Blue Moon Online Thrift Store Blog Amazon Store

Happy New Year!

Here we are at the threshold of a new year and just as important, a new decade! So what does our future hold for us? Unless you're a psychic only time will tell.  One thing is for sure; the general feeling I've been getting  is that most people are looking forward to a much better tomorrow. Amen to that!

Adding to the celebrations of bringing in a new year and decade,  we had a Once in a Blue Moon occurrence of a once in a blue moon event. Hmmm....what? Okay, it means we had a 2nd full moon of the month in
December and it was on New Year's Eve. I didn't know it, but this only occurs once in a blue moon or about every 20 years. I also didn't know  that  having two full moons in the same month isn't as rare as one would think since  it  occurs about every two and half years. It should be noted that none of moons in either event are actually blue. No worries...that's where we come in.

This month our news is all about merchandise. To start off the year right,  we've added a group of items the other day and have another group in the works. Below is only a sampling:

Ferocious-long sleeve lightweight thermal tee with hood, printed stars on fabric, size M 10-12, new with Macy's tags

Gap cotton top, under bodice gathering, heavy enough cotton to wear an under shirt and use the top for a lightweight jacket/sweater, side pockets, size L, new

Limited Too sweat outfit, top with pouch pocket, bottoms with doggie decal on rear, size 7, like new

Little Miss-Beautees, cotton eyelet ruffled skirt satin ribbon trim, size S, (5-6), like new

One of our consigners indicated that she may be slashing her prices on all of her clothing after the first of the year. Most of her items are for our career minded customers and are of high quality. Keep a look out for the reductions to happen sometime this week.

Below are a few of the  gorgeous and original artworks by an artist from Idaho that we're very honored to showcase on our site.

Another group of new items added, are custom crocheted baby blankets. Our consigner will use any image, colors, or names to create a blanket for your baby or as a gift. Considering what you're getting, these blankets are very inexpensive. The blankets below can be purchased now.

Springtime for a wedding runs a distant 3rd behind summer and fall, yet the season is probably the most beautiful of the three and is considered the time of rebirth and renewal.  My favorite month of the spring season is May, when the weather is warmer and the breezes are gentle. To me, May is a perfect time for a wedding.

If you agree and haven't yet purchased your wedding gown, now may be the time to start shopping since there's only about four months left. We can help you out with our lower prices for new designer gowns and we have one previously worn, designer wedding gown priced way below original retail.

Alfred Angelo- bridal collection. New-never worn-dress with tags. Style 1150

Demetrios Illusions Style No. 3049 - Size 12, Ivory-New. Never worn - tags still on.

David’s Bridal-Wedding gown. Size 16/18. Can be sized. Bead work is strategically placed down the waist line for a flattering effect

Something to think about:

If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.

SERVES 8

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
  • 3 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese or Romano cheese
  • 2 tablespoons minced fresh parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper

  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and milk.
  2. In another shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper.
  3. Dip steak in egg mixture, then coat with the crumb mixture.
  4. In a large skillet, heat 1/2" of oil.
  5. Brown steak over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (keep in mind that the longer it is cooked, the tougher it gets).

  9. Broil 4" from the heat for 1-2 minutes or until cheese is melted.

One of our customer's is looking for  old and crude glass, pottery and porcelain insulators.
Pretty and bright colors with patent dates are a plus.
Telegraph, telephone, electric power and lightning rod insulators.

He especially would like anything odd and unusual. The photos are samples I found on the internet and may or may not depict what our customer is looking for.
